Our School Dog

Lani (pronounced Lar-nee), is our school dog. He is a red Cavapoo, who lives with Mrs Grayson, the Headteacher. He was born on 25th February 2021 to his mum ‘Hattie’, a red King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, and his dad, a miniature poodle. He was the smallest in a litter of 8 puppies (6 boys and 2 girls).

His full name is Lockdown Lani, as he was bought to help all the children and families come back together as a community after a year of lockdowns and no hugging!

During the school day he has many duties:

  • To bring a smile to school staff on arrival at school
  • To greet the children on the school gate and get their day off to a great start
  • To be there as a treat to play with whenever a child gets the Golden Acorn
  • To cheer up any child who may have hurt themselves or be waiting to go home poorly
  • To encourage all Padnell children to ‘Read to Succeed’ through our reading scheme
  • To support the ELSA in helping those children who find stepping through the school door a challenge
  • To help autistic children who experience sensory overload to self-regulate
